Rol and I got engaged in May of 2015 and it was the most perfect proposal. We had just moved into our house in April of that year so we were having our house warming party. All of our close family and friends were there celebrating with us. We have a balcony that connects off of our bedroom. Rol asked me to go up to the balcony because he wanted to take a family picture of everyone below us. It didn’t really make sense to me at the time but I went with it and as I was about to set up my camera, I turned around and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. All of our friends and family went crazy! They had no idea he was proposing and neither did I! Total shock. I couldn’t have asked for anything better being surrounded by our people. It was the best day!
I don’t know about anyone else but literally the day after we got engaged, I was researching venues, bridal gowns, flowers, etc. I was just so excited! It was a good thing we looked into the venues as quickly as we did because they were booked a year to a year and a half in advance. We ended booking our wedding at the Jubilee Pavilion which was a beautiful spot. We got married June 10th, 2017. The weather that day ended up being great. No rain, not too hot, just perfect. There were a few small bumps along the road while planning the wedding and on the wedding day but it turned out to be the most beautiful day. All of the hard work myself and my family put in all paid off in the end and we got to enjoy every moment of it together!
As far as my dress goes, I searched around a couple of local bridal gown stores and didn’t find a dress that I loved so we ended up going to Kleinfeld in Toronto. I found my dream dress there! My whole experience at Kleinfeld was amazing. The staff were so friendly and genuine. I thought the dresses would have been more expensive there but it was pretty comparable to the average bridal shop. If you are a bride looking for a dress, I would definitely recommend Kleinfeld.
Tips For Your Wedding Day
If you are reading this and are engaged or are soon to be engaged, my advice to you would be to have the least amount of stress as possible on your actual wedding day and while planning. We didn’t have a wedding planner but the wedding coordinator that came with the venue was good at helping us take care of alot of things behind the scenes. She helped keep my stress level down alot simply by eleviating alot of the planning off of my shoulders. Also, enjoy your day. It goes way too fast! I know everyone says that but it is 100% true so enjoy all of the moments with your spouse and your family. Rol and I both say we would love to do the day over again so we could appreciate many of the same moments or any we may have missed.
Our Lives Now
Fast forward 2 years later and we have a beautiful baby boy together. Life is great and we are so grateful for everyone and everything in our lives. Life is definitely a little more hectic and busy now but it also filled with more love than I could have ever imagined. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
